Shopify Order Status Page Customization After Additional Scripts
If you used the Additional Scripts box to customize your Shopify order status page, that code has stopped running. Anything customers see now goes in an app block, and anything that tracks (ad pixels, analytics) now goes in a web pixel. Shopify's developer docs put the cutoff at August 26, 2026 for most stores (August 28, 2025 for Plus).
Here's how to find what broke, fix it, and make better use of a page your customers keep coming back to.
What changed
The old box let you paste any HTML or JavaScript. The new setup splits that job in two:
- Showing something to the customer (a message, banner, survey) → an app block, added in the checkout and accounts editor.
- Tracking conversions → a web pixel, from an official app or a custom pixel in Settings → Customer events.
App blocks can't run pasted scripts, so a vendor's "copy this snippet" no longer works. You need an app that has been rebuilt for the new system, or a pixel.
Step 1: Find out what you lost
- List what used to be in Additional Scripts and what each snippet did
- Check your ad and analytics dashboards for a drop in purchases around August 26, 2026
- Open a real order status page and compare it to what customers used to see
- Check your apps for updates that support the new pages
Sort each item into rebuild as a pixel, rebuild as an app block, or let it go. You'll probably drop a few things nobody would miss.
Step 2: Fix tracking with pixels
For Google, Meta, TikTok and similar platforms, install their official Shopify app or channel. For anything else, add a custom pixel under Settings → Customer events. Pixels fire on events like checkout completed, but they can't change what the customer sees.
Then place a test order and confirm each platform records it.
Step 3: Decide what your customer should see
This is the part most stores skip. Your customers open this page to answer one question: "Where's my stuff?" They're paying attention, and often a little anxious. Good things to put there:
- A "what happens next" note. When it ships, how long delivery usually takes, who to contact. It heads off a lot of "where is my order?" emails.
- A personal thank-you from you or whoever packs the orders.
- Care or setup tips for what they bought.
- A review or feedback ask, timed carefully. Asking before the product arrives can feel early.
- A relevant next step, like a related product or a referral link.
Pick one or two. A cluttered page undoes the calm you're going for.
Step 4: Add the block
In your Shopify admin, open the checkout editor (under Settings → Checkout). Switch to the thank-you or order status page, add the app block, and drag it into place, for example under the order summary. No code needed.
One catch from Shopify's docs: visible content on the order status page only shows on stores that have upgraded to the new Thank you and Order status pages. If you can't add blocks there, check whether your store has finished that upgrade.
Where DropVoice fits
DropVoice is built on Shopify's extension system. It adds a short voice note as a block on your thank-you page and order status page, as well as product pages and delivery texts. You record 20–30 seconds in your browser and drag the block where you want it.
A few ways to use it:
- Thank-you page: a quick, genuine thanks in your own voice.
- Order status page: when to expect the package and what to do if something's off.
- Listen-to-unlock: customers who listen to the end can get a discount code for next time.
It doesn't replace the tracking you lost. That's what pixels are for. It just lets the page your customers keep checking sound like a person instead of a receipt.

FAQ
Can I still paste custom HTML on the order status page? Not through Additional Scripts. Visible content now comes from app blocks, and tracking from web pixels.
Do I need Shopify Plus to customize the order status page? No. Plus is needed to customize the checkout steps themselves (information, shipping, payment). The thank-you and order status pages accept app blocks on other plans too.
My conversion tracking dropped after August 2026. Why? If it ran from Additional Scripts or an old script tag, it stopped on August 26, 2026 for non-Plus stores. Reinstall it through the platform's official Shopify app or a custom pixel.
